A weightier, more grounded piece for the rooms where the long road of faith is honored. The Lost Sheep—Sage Green was made for studies, libraries, home offices, men's rooms, fathers' studies, pastors' offices, recovery and sobriety spaces, lake houses, cabins, and hallway vignettes, and pairs naturally with deep wood, leather, brass, sage, olive, eucalyptus, forest green, and Scottsdale-modern interiors. The sage green palette gives this piece the masculine, lived-in weight that beige cannot, which is why it is one of Christian Modern's most-chosen pieces for Father's Day gifts, ordination gifts, pastors and elders, men's Bible study leaders, seminarians, recovery-anniversary gifts, and men walking the long road back to faith. The pilgrimage of the shepherd, the seeking of the one, the path itself, this is the language of repentance and homecoming that has held men through twelve-step rooms and prison ministries and quiet returns.

About The Lost Sheep & Luke 15

The Parable of the Lost Sheep is told by Jesus in Luke 15:3-7 and Matthew 18:12-14, but the image of God as Shepherd is far older than the Gospels. In Ezekiel 34, God speaks against the false shepherds of Israel and promises: "I myself will search for my sheep and look after them... I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered." Centuries later, Psalm 23 opens with the most-quoted shepherd line in scripture: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Jesus picks both up and makes them His own. The verse on this piece, Luke 15:6, is the moment of recovery, "Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep," but the deeper story is the long search that preceded it, the pilgrimage of a God who refuses to lose the one. This is why the sage green palette suits this piece so well. Sage carries the weight of an old road, a long pursuit, a faith that has been walked rather than merely held. The shepherd is small at the top of the frame because the journey is what the painting is finally about, the patient seeking, the long road through, and the quiet meeting at the end where the one who was lost is found and carried home.
